I receive the Jews for Jesus newsletter each month, and always love to read columns from JfJ founder Moishe Rosen. This month, he had some pointers about witnessing that are wonderful in their simplicity, and solid in their counsel. Here they are -- in Moishe's words . . .
1. God told you to proclaim, not persuade, so don't feel like you've failed if your friend is not immediately convinced.
2. Remember that your message is about Jesus, so no matter how interesting your own life is, when you give a testimony make sure that He's the hero of your story.
3. God uses imperfect vessels; don't worry about making mistakes. You can't turn anybody off when the Holy Spirit is turning them on.
4. Sow a lot of seed; let the Holy Spirit water it and know that there will be a harvest!
The only modification I would make to any of these is the first one where Moishe mentions persuasion. Acts 28 and 2 Corinthians 5 discuss persuading men. I think what Moishe is meaning to say is that it's not up to you whether or not someone comes to saving faith. You proclaim, God does the drawing and the saving.
All in all, a good word.
