Take a Number . . . Not!

This is a pretty interesting generation in more ways than one. While it has some commendable points, it's also a pretty narcissistic, me-centered generation. Spoiled rotten and then some. Quick to complain and easy to get its undies in a bunch when things don't go according to plan. We hear a lot about "fairness." If you read between the lines, how many statements get fired in God's direction about life's circumstances -- statements that, if you read between the lines, imply that God is not fair.

Imagine being one of the narcissistic crew, and then coming across this Scripture:

Why should any living mortal, or any man, Offer complaint in view of his sins (Lamentations 3:39)?

Ouch. Now THAT's a cold slosh of water in the face, isn't it?

But how true, and what a great reminder to get things back into their proper perspective. How thankful we ought to be that God doesn't give us what we deserve. That's grace. Giving us what we deserve is justice.

And considering eternal justice, and what we have done to merit God's wrath, I think we all would do well to complain less. I'm certainly going to try.
