In the Cage

In lieu of a substantive post, how about some great entertainment?

Check out this Youtube clip from Genesis' "Abacab" tour in 1981. Not only is it noteworthy from the fact that this tour was the first ever use of Vari*Lites on a concert stage (Genesis was instrumental in funding their development), but it's also a great snapshot of a band at the height of its powers. Highlights are Phil Collins' drumming, and Mike Rutherford's way-cool, custom-made Shergold doubleneck bass and 12-string guitar.

I got to see one of the shows on this tour, specifically at the Dane County Coliseum in Madison. The second and only other time I was able to see them was in Chicago during their 2007 reunion tour, sadly...probably the last one.

Love that one too Joel. Saw them a couple of times in my hometown of Pittsburgh, once in the Mellon arena (Civic Arena at that time) once at Three Rivers Stadium. That song along with the Los Endos/Dance on a Volcano drum solo with Chester was awesome! Do a youtube search on those!
