At least this time it's not making predictions about earthquakes and hurricanes. But as far as I'm concerned, this is close to being bad enough.
This time, televangelist Pat Robertson is waxing eloquent on the fate of football player Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos because they traded off Tim Tebow. I'm not a football fan in general, but it has been interesting and, at times, irritating, to see how the media and everyone else under the sun devils Tim because of his unashamed Christian faith. He has fans and detractors, but most people with football knowledge agree that Tebow's playing style is unorthodox and his throwing ability needs improvement.
Nevertheless, Tim managed to lead the Broncos to a pretty decent showing last season. Yet John Elway and Denver elected to bring Manning in and to trade Tebow off.
And that leads Pat Robertson to speculate about what might happen to Manning if he gets hurt again. Divine retribution? Is that what we're supposed to read between the lines?
Pat should have learned by now that his statements get picked up and go viral, and give Christians in general a black eye. He ought to stick to preaching the Gospel, and keep his mouth quiet about everything else.
In my humble opinion.
