Pray for the Persecuted Church

Today—as well as next Sunday, November 10, as an alternate date—is set aside as the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church.

In my view, this is one of the most underreported news stories out there. And even as we observe the Day of Prayer, we get this awful story out of Syria, where it appears there was a mass murder of Christians in the country's ongoing civil war.

Thousands of my fellow believers are persecuted, oppressed, or even martyred for their faith each year. We have little experience of this in America, but that may change, and much sooner than we think. I see the early signs of it now. We shouldn't be shocked by it. We ought to expect it since the Lord Himself warned us about it. But He also promised that He would be with us in the fire. We also know that the enemy might be able to destroy the body, but he cannot touch our souls committed to Christ.

So pray, fellow believers. Pray. We have brothers and sisters in need of our intercession.
